PCI Event This Week - Is PCI Helping?

We are hosting our regional Retail & PCI Security Forum at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh this Thursday May 27th.  Bob Russo, GM of the PCI Security Standards Council is our Keynote Speaker.

As the event approaches I have been reflecting back to conversations I've had with CISOs across the US over the past few years as the PCI DSS has evolved.  I always wonder if it has helped improve security and actually reduce the risk to credit card data.

CSO Breakfast Club members differ widely in this opinions on this topic. Some say that the PCI DSS has been an important driver in getting their executives to approve resources for improving security.  Others argue that it takes their executive's eyes off the real problem of risk management and makes them think "Complete the checklist and pass the audit."

Whichever side of the argument you stand, I believe that having such standards as the PCI DSS is important to increasing awareness which leads to better risk management.

I hope you can make it to our PCI event and participate in this debate.  Register at this link if you have not done so yet. Contact me at bill@csobreakfastclub.com for a promotion code that will get you in complimentary.
